RUMOUR was completed in Algonac, Michigan and shipped to Miami, Florida, on January 27, 1941 which was my father’s 1st birthday. The same day, the following “rumour” was leaked: Joseph Clark Grew, US Ambassador to Japan wired a warning to FDR and the US State Department on January 27, 1941: "The Peruvian minister has informed a member of my staff that he had heard from many sources, including a Japanese source, that, in the event of trouble breaking out between the United States and Japan, the Japanese intended to make a surprise attack against Pearl Harbor...."

1938 Chris-Craft Deluxe Utility - '"LOLLIPOP II"'
Owner: Michael Favilla
Home Port: Houlton, WI

"LOLLIPOP II" is a 1938 Chris Craft, 21' Deluxe Utility, hull # 35417.

It was delivered new to Geneva Lake for the Harris Family of Chicago and Williams Bay.

I believe that Gage Marine maintained the boat for the Harris Family.

Around 1980 Bill Gage handled the sale of the boat to Mr Thomas Shive of Marshalltown, IA, and Lake Okoboji.

In 1990, Mr Shive was retiring and moving to San Diego and agreed to sell "LOLLIPOP II" to the Favilla Family.

The boat is completely original wood, with the exception of a recent new bottom and new upholstery, flooring. She is still powered by her original K motor, 85hp.

We are very proud to be the third owner of "LOLLIPOP II", and to be bringing her back to Geneva Lake for for the first time in 30 plus years!

1949 Chris Craft Sportsman - 'Uncle Buster'
Owner: Robert VanOrsdel
Home Port: Okoboji, IA

We acquired this boat over 15 years ago after a loong search.  We had ridden in a 25' Sportsman at an ACBS event and fell in love with the boat. This one had been in storage for several years due to its poor condition. However, it was pretty complete with original motors, instruments, chrome, etc.  It ultimately went to a boat shop for a complete keel-up restoration.  The motors were pulled and rebuilt, gauges restored, chrome redone, re-upholstered, etc.

Upon research, it was determined that she was on of the original 'six sisters'. These were six roughly identical 25' Sportsmen built especially for the three sons of Chris Smith, the Company's lumber dealer, attorney and Clara Ford, Henry Ford's wife.  Each of the boats had 2 or 3 hull cards reflecting the special items to be added, including twin KL engines, shock absorber seats, rear steering, ice chests, bait live well, steering column shifters, etc.  Of the original six this is one of three known to still exist.

She spends the summer on a boat lift in front of our cabin on Lake Okoboji and we use her every chance we get. DeVries Wood Boats in George, Iowa takes good care of her in the off-season. We hope to continue to be her proud care-keepers for many years to come.

1956 Chris Craft Continental - 'Lone Palm'
Owner: Gary Paxson
Home Port: Lake Geneva, WI

This boat was a Lake Geneva boat & was the Cameron's family boat of Geneva Lake Boat Co. I remember seeing her hang @the slip where the Yacht Club pier is now when I was 9. She was restored with the very capable hands @ Delavan Lake Boat Shed, her 2nd home in winter for 25 yrs.She is more than I deserve; the joy of seeing the smiles & shared moments of her guests is the true reward I receive for her "high maintenance" The name is from a Jimmy Buffett song, & a metaphore for me: though it is possible to add another palm tree; & the truth is you are never alone when you share.

1957 Chris Craft Continental - 'Birchwood'
Owner: Karen Birch
Home Port: Barrington, IL

This boat was purchased new in February of 1957 by Karen's late parents, Robert and Maxine Birch, of Griggsville, IL. Her dad became a Chris Craft dealer in 1956 and Karen has his original franchise certificate. This boat is all original and Karen has the boat's original order form, invoice, service manuals, prop, fenders, hand spot light, ladder and water skies that her dad used. Her dad's captain hat sits so proudly on the boat's dash. Karen uses one of the original canvas boat covers that had never been used and was being stored in her dad's attic. This boat spent most of its time on the Illinois River in central Illinois where Karen has great family memories. The last time the boat was in the water was in the summer of 1978 on the Mississippi river. Since then the boat had been sitting on her original cradle and boat trailer in a machine shed on the family farm. In May of 2010 the boat was transported by flatbed to McHenry, IL where it was completely restored by Fox River Valley Boat Company. The summer of 2011 was Birchwood and Karen’s first year of boating. Since then the boat has won various awards through the years at various boat shows. In September 2016 this boat was given the honor of being on the cover plus an article in a national boating magazine called “Classic Boating”. The boat was never named so Karen choose "Birchwood" in memory of her late parents. Karen's late parents are always with her on this boat and this boat is a constant reminder of how wonderful her parents were and the fabulous childhood they gave her. When asked about the boat Karen always says: “I made a promise to my dad that I would take care of his boat. I that’s what I intend to do”

2017 Cherubini 255 Pocket Cruiser
Owner: Michael Trainor
Home Port: Lake Geneva, WI

This is Cherubini Yachts' debut in Wisconsin!

The Cherubini Classic 24 in the Lake Geneva Boat Show was built by family boatbuilders Cherubini Yachts with mahogany over her fiberglass hull.

Cherubini Yachts CEO David Cherubini met with client Randall Turk about seven years ago when he took him for a boat ride on a Cherubini Classic 24.

The client loved her nobility and sea-kindliness.

Years went by . and he remembered the boat, but couldn't remember the builder.

"I tried to track him down" says Turk. "I remembered the boat we drove was on the cover of Chesapeake Bay magazine."

So he called the magazine and they were kind enough to comb through cover after cover until he found the boat he wanted.

When Turk gave Cherubini Yachts a call, he wanted something even more spectacular. He wanted a boat that looked like an all-wooden boat but did not have the high maintenance of one. And Turk wanted a piece of art on the water.

So the most gorgeous mahogany (originally meant for Gibson Guitar Co.) covered the hull of a new Cherubini Classic 24 to make her look like a true wooden boat.

"Sure enough Dave did it!" says Turk.

Owner: Frank Lozich
Home Port: Tinley Park, IL

Our Thompson was purchased from the original owners family in 2004. During our ownership much work and restoration has been done to keep our boat in ship shape. In 2011 the mahogany was refinished by us, and In 2016 the boat went to Fox River Valley Boat Co. to have the hull repaired and refinished in a beautiful deep dark blue. It is powered by a Yamaha for reliable cruising. We get a lot of enjoyment cruising the northern Indiana shores of Lake Michigan, the Illinois River and even "channel-rattin" along the Cal-Sag down our way. It's still a work in progress, but that is also part of the fun owning it!

Since that time continuous additional steps have been taken to return it to original condition, with some guidance from the Streblow Boat Co. Most of the side and bottom planking is original. It is one of only two 19’ Streblows built in 1958, and has the original Cal Connell Cadillac Crusader 390 cu. in. engine. Only one other Streblow used this engine, which was the most powerful engine available in 1958. The Rebel is used regularly on the Fox Chain in Northern Illinois.

1980 Streblow 23 - 'Donnybrook'
Owner: Michael Kennedy
Home Port: Naperville, IL

We are the current stewards of this beautiful 1980 23' direct drive Streblow. Built for the Gallagher family, it has spent its life on Lake Geneva except for a few road trips to New Buffalo, MI, Burnham harbor Chicago, and a spring break to the southern Gulf of Florida where it handled beautifully and turn heads, including a boarding by the USCG "just had to see the boat"! New interior, mahogany dash, and a change to blue bottom paint in 2013. We use the boat as much as possible for cruises and tubing on the lake.
